The 6 Pillars of Mental Health

December 17, 2024

CCF is introducing a 6-month trial program for parents in the CCF community. The 6 Pillars of Mental Health program aims to offer important skills and support to parents, benefiting both them and their children and strengthening the family as a whole.

Each month, CCF will focus on a specific area, called a “pillar,” to provide educational materials to parents. These materials will be accessible through different methods like text messages, written materials, handouts, posters in the building, interactive activities, and email notifications. To ensure understanding, all the information will be provided in the participant’s native language.

The program’s main goal is to help parents create supportive systems that promote healthy parenting, raise healthy children, and foster healthy families. It also encourages parents to prioritize their own mental and physical well-being.

The Six Pillars of the program are designed to make self-care a lasting practice for parents and guardians. These methods are similar to muscle memory when it comes to taking care of children and oneself. Here’s a brief overview of each pillar and how they can be applied in practical ways, right now:

Safety

Parents learn how to ensure their children’s physical safety and create a safe emotional space for them. This involves setting up areas where children can relax, unwind, and share their feelings without distractions.

Structure

Parents discover the importance of structure and routines in child development. Implementing consistent schedules can positively impact the whole family by providing a sense of security and predictability.

Affirmation

Using positive affirmations, parents make their children feel valued and appreciated. Simple gestures like addressing them by name, making eye contact, and expressing excitement upon their arrival can boost their self-esteem.

Nutrition

Parents understand the significance of a healthy and balanced diet, which not only affects physical health but also emotional and mental well-being. They learn about the impact of preservatives, dyes, and toxins on children’s behavior as they grow.

Activity and Exercise

Parents discover enjoyable and engaging activities that the whole family can participate in together. Emphasizing family activities, game nights, and shared meals encourages bonding and creates lasting memories.

Sleep

The program emphasizes the importance of proper sleep for children’s growth and well-being. Parents learn about establishing structured sleep patterns, creating soothing bedtime routines, and providing a calm sleep environment.

By focusing on these pillars, parents can develop healthy habits that benefit both themselves and their children, fostering a nurturing and harmonious family environment.

Please don't miss out on this opportunity to enhance your family's well-being and create a positive impact in your lives. Call CCF to sign up at: 610-436-6226. Or use our Contact Form to reach out, using the subject line "Six Pillars".
