Transforming LIVES
From Historical Landmark to Beacon of Hope
The Care Center Foundation’s original building was built in 1860, and is considered a historical landmark in Chester County.
This architectural curiosity, considered a cornerstone of the region’s history, carries with it a legacy of resilience and compassion. Fast forward to 1982, when Reverend Carl Guthrie and Dr. Gary Cashon founded the organization, initially known as the Care Center for Christ. With a shared vision of creating positive change, they set out to transform the lives of those in need.
OUR transformation
From Neighborhood Bar to Safe Haven
In 1987, the building located on the corner of Matlack and Barnard St. underwent a remarkable metamorphosis.
Once known as the Side Track Bar, it was transformed into a safe haven for neighborhood families and children.
Addressing the critical demands for childcare and employment assistance, the Care Center remains committed to offering a comprehensive range of educational and recreational support. Moreover, we now extend our aid to parents through our many social outreach programs, ensuring they receive the necessary guidance and resources.
On a corner where drugs and violence once prevailed, the Care Center Foundation has become a beacon of hope. Families that once encountered hardship and despair now find solace and opportunities for growth. Through its unwavering dedication and tireless efforts, the Foundation has successfully turned a community’s struggle into a story of triumph. Join us on a journey of inspiration as we explore the transformational impact of The Care Center Foundation, and witness firsthand the indomitable spirit that continues to uplift and empower families amidst adversity.
