Well Child Visits Matter More Than Vaccinations

May 7, 2026

By Wendy J. Wallace, DO, President of CCF

Check-ups at your doctor’s office are about much more than vaccinations. So many systems are monitored when you take your child to a well visit. Weight, height, length, developmental milestones, screenings for low blood count, autism, and developmental delays, nutrition, pooping and peeing, sleeping, learning, movement, speaking, and MORE! All of this occurs in a 20–30 minute visit!

And when the doctor or nurse practitioner says your little one looks healthy — that is the best news ever! The study of children is built on years of education and experience to help reassure you as you continue loving and caring for your little one. And if there is something to worry about, your doctor or NP will be there to guide you and your child toward better health!

So schedule your child’s next well visit: 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 1 year, 15 months, 18 months, 2 years, 2½ years, 3 years, and then every year after that!
